In Chapter 9, Solomon and Schrum discuss the gap between the home and school connection and digital learning. Students are working with technology at a much higher level than they are exposed in schools. The typical, traditional curriculum is becoming less and less appealing to students because it is lacking interest and an environment that is behind. A 21 st century learner should be applying skills that can be utilized in a our digital society.
Through the Alabama Math,Science and Technology Initiative, our hope is to engage students and teachers through hands on , inquiry based learning and participating in a collaborative environment, that will increase student achievement.
I would like to offer suggestions, through this blog, to the 169 teachers that I serve as an AMSTI specialist on suggested practices to keep students engaged and interested in learning. This blog will also serve as an avenue to offer ways for students to become a stakeholder in their personal learning and having responsibilities for acquiring these goals.
